The endocrine system consists of many glands which secrete hormones in response to various stimuli. Its functions are to maintain the bodily functions in response to external situations such as stress, infections, bleeding, and others, as well as prepare the body for reproduction, sexuality, etc. Diseases occur when the system is deranged by the external factors or genetic abnormalities. Common endocrine diseases include:
